Safety Matters to Us
While proud of our safety culture, Summit is unrelenting in the pursuit of safety performance improvement. This pursuit is obvious in every level of the organization: Executive commitment is demonstrated by vigorously promoting safe behavior as a core value, providing safety enhancing educational opportunities and ensuring safety initiatives are funded and staffed. Managers, Supervisors and Technicians continuously exhibit Summit’s commitment to safety as they carry out tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
Minimum requirements for Summit employees
Certifications and training received by all employees include:
- 40 hour OSHA Hazwoper CFR 1910.120
- Confined Space Entry and Rescue
- American Red Cross First Aid and CPR
- Trenching and Excavation Training
- Aerial Lift Training
- Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (ARSC)
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Industry specific training
In addition to standard annual training, Summit requires employees to participate in customized training programs designated to meet specific client requirements. Several employees carry specialized industry-specific training such as:
- American Petroleum Institute – Tank Entry Supervisor (TES)
- OSHA Hazwoper Site Supervisor – UST Removal Manager
- Abnormal Operating Conditions – General Pipeline Certification
- Advanced Tank Car Specialist (40 hours)
- E-Railsafe System Badge
- LG&E Energy Safety Training
- MSHA Safety Training
